Getting rid of Brassy/Golden Hair

If your a Blondie, find out why Purple shampoo should be your BFF!

In our salon one of the most common questions we get asked is 'why does my beautiful blonde hair turn golden'.

We know how it feels when you have freshly colored hair that slowly seems to lose it's glow. its frustrating when the warmer tones starts to peep through. But, the good news is, there is something you can do to help keep the brass at bay!!

It's up to us to provide the perfect blonde toning service in the salon, but it is up to you to maintain your hair color at home and that is where the purple shampoo comes in!

WHAT WE DO IN THE SALON In the salon we will use a toner to eliminate unwanted yellow, orange and red undertones, this is an essential part of the process, but overtime the toner will fade and you will notice brassy tones re-appearing.

In order to keep your blonde looking cool while preventing brassy hair, purple shampoo is an absolute necessity. To help you properly maintain your color and to adjust your tone at home,

BUT, WHY IS PURPLE SHAMPOO ACTUALLY PURPLE? If you take your mind back to school you might be able to picture a basic color wheel, directly across from yellow is purple. So, the purple color in the shampoo helps to eliminate the unwanted yellow colors from the hair. if the hair has a little bit of a yellow tone, a pigmented purple shampoo is going to neutralize that warmth.” Because of this, violet hued shampoo can also neutralize those yellow, brassy tones in more than just blonde hair.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I USE PURPLE SHAMPOO Purple shampoo does not replace your regular shampoo and it should only be used once or twice a week. There is such a thing as too much purple. If you use it too often your hair will go darker. So if you wash your hair twice a week, use the purple shampoo only once a week to keep the hair bright but not yellow. Purple shampoo can also be mixed with regular shampoo to add some of the violet pigment into a regular hair cleansing routine without any risk of going overboard.
